My name is Stephanie and I am a writer, social/tech innovator, singer/composer, marketer, and dog-lover living in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. I’m passionate about ideas, words, travel, the arts, technology and innovation, building community, and making the world a more beautiful place. My recent projects include a local technology and social venture startup, working with digital and social innovation, mental health advocacy, and working to support women in technology.
I originally studied electrical engineering at the University of Waterloo and also hold a diploma in audio recording technology from the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology. Since 2000, I’ve worked in a variety of places across Canada, mainly communications-related roles within the tech sector. I enjoy volunteering in my community, and am working / have worked with Hive Waterloo, The Jazz Room (Waterloo), Canadian Women in Technology, National Engineering Month Ontario, TEDx Waterloo, Ignite Waterloo, Engineers Without Borders Canada, and Canada 3.0; I am also a member of the global Shad Valley alumni network and the recipient of a Waterloo Region 40 under 40 award.
